Week 9 & Week 10

 

 

This week all the staffs had travelled to outstation, and so there was nothing hard to be done rather just recording the files that arrived for refund and reallocation. Being in the office that I mainly dealt with picking up their land line calls. At one point of time I had received a call from one of the finance officer and gave me some instructions to check some documents in his desk.  There was another call from an Accounts officer from one regions who had wanted some assistance from the senior finance officer, since he was away I directed his call to the treasury manager who I believe he was able to help.

 

On the other incidence I was paid a visit by one of the board member of accounting department , requesting to give some clarification on my work which I had done some weeks ago. I was shocked as I really couldn't remember why I had made such analysis in the first point. So I decided to look into the matter after lunch when my mind was clear. Finally I figured out why I had analysed that way  , thus went to clarify it to the accountant. 

 

As for th week 10 there was technically nothing to do at the office but I still showed up at the office even if there was no any other officer around. Most of the time I and the other inter would just be assisting the personal secretary of the treasury manager. Apart from that during this week I would just pick calls via the office extension phones from different bosses from other regions . Sometimes I would be able to help by giving them direction , it wasn't not easy talking to these bosses.

 

The main lesson that I grasped in these two weeks in the absence of the officer is that it is important to follow rules and regulations. This is because there was a day that I arrived late at the office and one of the accounting department commented on my face on my punctuality. I felt so bad that the next day I tried my level best to leave home early so that I wouldn't face the same accounting staff.

 

In additional to that I learnt that on beginning my career making mistakes and being corrected was a normal thing. I needed to accept my mistakes no matter how bis or small they as as its from my wrongs I was going to grow career wise.Although when the board member from the accounting department I was glad that I got the chance to be corrected as it was the whole point of doing internship to learn and be a better personal.
