The most important event that happened during week was when one of the finance officer called all the interns. On being called he re-explained again about what are the activities that the department it deals with in the whole organization. I was thankful that the finance officer had decided to to do this , because part of me was still unclear how exactly the activities are done. Apart from  he gave us some career advice on when we were going to apply for job in pension funds. He encouraged us to work in the long term investment department since we were more likely to apply the theories and finance knowledge.

 

As for the remaing days of the week the most common task that we were doing was on writing analysis report for different regions. There were so many regions to take care because the holiday season was over and thus most times we were so busy to do the tasks quickly and pass the files to the finance officers. Sometimes I would not be doing the analysis writing directly but rather assist my other fellow interns when they were doing their analysis. On the end of the week i.e Friday the task that I was doing was different from what I hd been doing the previous week.On this day I and other interns we were required to enter into an excel sheet the Adminstrative expenses for different regions and districts of Tanzania.

 

The great lesson that I learnt this week while doing my internship is  time management and stress management were important when I start working. There was a time while I was working I felt so stressed as the finance officer would assign as tasks that needed to be done efficientlt and quickly, of which is something that I was not used to while in university. Furthermore I learnt to have proper time management while in internship since not all the time you can get enough time to complete tasks and other unofficial matters.

 

Week 4

As this week began , the finance officer required me and my other intern to double check the work which we had entered in the excel last week. Although i never asked why the finance officer asked us to re-check the data we had entered last week, but my guess was that they had noticed something. The task wasn't a hard one and so we would use a very short time to finish it, since some of the officers had not returned to the office so the regions given to us were few.

In my observation each time the task was given the officer would remind us over and over to do it carefully. This got me to think about doing the task effectively and not just rudh because I am required to finish on time. There was a time the finance officers or board office would come and require me to explain on my analysis and incase they found some mistakes they would politely re-explain how to do it correctly.

However sometimes I didn't like when the officers kept assigning the task to the same people everday, I wish they would let me work with other totally different people in the department  so as I could learn more and as well discover my weakness and strength.
