Reflective Journal- Week 2

Beginning this second week where we had to attend the tutorial, out tutor was explaining to us on how we are to conduct the community service to the two schools. He also explained on how we were supposed to handle the students. I was getting confused as he was giving us more explanation about the school and the student we expect to meet. Part of me felt like I won’t be able to make for the whole community service since there was so much to deal with.

I was feeling scared as our tutor was explaining so much to us how we would conduct the whole teaching to the two schools selected  as he was giving us different examples of students will behave or react when will be teaching them. Being scared was not a good thing to feel since from my past experience fear usually makes me to give up. However for my situation I could not give and drop the module since it is compulsory.

From the whole experience I learnt that giving up is not a solution when someone is scared to pursue something.  If I had to give up since I am scared the probably the whole class would as well give up and drop the module but instead they stick around and continue with the module. I also realized that sometimes when faced in fear of doing something it is important to be patient to see what is really going to happen in the future.

Thus I feel that by taking this module then I would be able to face my fear on dealing with community service especially in the future when I start working. I believe that participating in giving back to the society then I will not be scared in the future when asked to do it by the company  I work for or my future boss. In other words Community service module is helping me to get ready for the real world situations of giving back to the society.
